Monday, September 15, marks the beginning of the annual National Coaches Week. From September 15 to 21, this week-long celebration highlights the positive impact coaches have on athletes and communities across Canada. This annual campaign is an opportunity to recognize coaches for the integral role they play and to take time to say #ThanksCoach.
“The continued commitment to coach development and mentorship through our Provincial Rowing Associations and supported by our NCCP Coach Developers has been exemplary in the past year with another record number of workshops, coach mentorships and coach evaluations delivered across the country. Coaches are actively pursuing their coaching pathway and we have another exciting opportunity ahead of us to learn and celebrate our coaches during National Coaches Week,” Colleen Miller, RCA Manager, Coach Education and Development said. “This week-long celebration is dedicated to thanking our coaches, but also a great way to welcome new coaches with free eLearning education through the NCCP Locker.“
In celebration of National Coaches Week, Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) is offering the RCA Rowing Essentials e-module for free (regularly $20). This e-module was developed by RCA and equips coaches with important technical and safety knowledge. It can be accessed via the eLearning page in the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) Locker.
All coaches are required to complete the RCA Rowing Essentials e-module as part of RCA’s ‘Every Coach Certified’ initiative. Coaches new to the NCCP as of April 2019 are also required to complete the NCCP Coach Initiation in Sport e-module (free on September 15 during National Coaches Week).
In addition, the CAC is offering additional free eLearning modules during National Coaches Week. These can also all be accessed via the eLearning page in the CAC Locker and coaches will receive Professional Development Points upon completion!
