High Performance Director Iain Brambell departs RCA

After a quadrennial of dedicated leadership to the RCA High Performance program, Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) announces that Iain Brambell will be moving on from the organization. This mutual decision follows discussions about the future of the program and Iain’s future professional goals.

The 2008 Olympic rowing bronze medallist joined RCA as the High Performance Director in early 2017, leading the high performance program to two Olympic medals in Tokyo, including a gold medal in the women’s eight.

“Joining Rowing Canada Aviron following a difficult Rio Olympic Games, I am very proud of what we as an organization have accomplished, in cementing the critical building blocks that will drive and support the ongoing successes of the high performance program,” said Brambell. “I am humbled to have worked with the incredible athletes, coaches and staff within the Canadian rowing program and I look forward to taking these amazing experiences and learnings into my next adventure.”

“I am proud of what we have achieved in the last four years, this was only possible because of Iain’s tireless dedication to the program and to our sport,” said RCA CEO Terry Dillon. “We wish him all the best for the future and every success in his next role.”

As we move forward, the number one priority continues to be ensuring an optimal training environment in the lead up to Paris 2024 and beyond.

We thank Iain for his commitment to our High Performance program and for his contributions to the success of Canadian rowing on the world stage.
