Today, Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) launches the #RowtoTokyo crowdfunding campaign in support of the RCA athlete nutrition program. The crowdfunding campaign is Phase 1 of our ‘Row to Tokyo Fund Development strategy’. Funds raised as a result of this campaign will go directly to fueling our athletes towards Tokyo 2020.
To fuel full-time training, rowers consume approximately 6,000 to 10,000 calories per day (the same amount as a typical family of four), costing them a minimum of $948 per month or $11,376 per year.
“Living as a full-time athlete, there are great costs to fuelling yourself in the best way possible,” explains National team rower Jennifer Casson of Kingston Rowing Club. “To meet all our nutritional needs, food has to be purchased in both great quantities and high quality.”

Together with our community of supporters – we can help fuel our athletes!
“External donations will help to fund these programs that assist us in supporting ourselves, alleviating stress and allowing us to perform our best in training and competition,” said National team rower Jeremy Hall of Edmonton Rowing Club. “In turn, this will improve our chances of reaching the podium in Tokyo.
RCA is targeting 5+ podium performances at the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
“I can say without a shadow of a doubt that myself and the entire Canadian National Rowing team cannot quantify our gratitude for your generous donations and contributions,” says Casson. “We use our supporters as motivation to push ourselves even further as we know we have you at our backs as we train daily in pursuit of excellence on the world stage!”
All funds raised through the 8-week campaign will directly impact all Senior athletes training at the National Training Centre. All donations are eligible for a tax receipt.
We cannot quantify our gratitude for your generous donations and contributions!
