Coach Learning Updates: NCCP Make Ethical Decisions (MED) Module Transition Effective April 2026

Coach Learning Updates: NCCP Make Ethical Decisions (MED) Module Transition Effective April 2026

Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) is advising all active coaches of upcoming changes to the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Make Ethical Decisions (MED) module and evaluation requirements, effective April 2026. Coaches who have already completed the MED online evaluation will retain this status on their transcript and will not need to complete the new MED eLearning module.

Overview
All active coaches are required to complete the Make Ethical Decisions (MED) module and the MED online evaluation to be eligible to coach in Canada. Currently, coaches may complete the MED module and then challenge the online evaluation to meet RCA requirements.

With the NCCP updates outlined below, the new combined MED eLearning module and evaluation will simplify access and streamline delivery for coaches across all sports in Canada.

Key Transition Dates and Details

1. New Coaches Who Have Not Completed the MED Module

  • MED Module Delivery ends March 15, 2026: Provincial/Territorial Coaching Representatives (Viasport, Coaching Association of Ontario, etc.) will stop delivering in-person, synchronous online, and home study versions of MED to allow coaches time to finish the current online evaluation.
  • After April 1, 2026, the existing MED online evaluation will no longer be available through The Locker.

2. Mid-Stream Coaches (Completed MED Module but Not MED Evaluation)

  • Coaches who have completed in-person MED training but have not yet completed the online evaluation, or are currently in progress, must finish the evaluation by March 31, 2026, at 11:59:59 PM PT.
  • Coaches who do not complete the current evaluation by this deadline will be required to complete the new combined eLearning module, which includes both training and evaluation components.

3. New Coaches Beginning April 1, 2026

  • Starting April 1, 2026, the new NCCP MED eLearning module will replace the current system.
  • The new module combines training and evaluation into a single 90–120 minute eLearning experience, available through The Locker.
  • Cost: $85
  • Once purchased, the module can be accessed and completed at any time through The Locker Learning Management System (LMS).
    • Access Path: Log in to The Locker → Profile → eLearning → Multi-Sport → MED eLearning Module
