IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Three Canadians are set to sprint and row their way to the finish line in Oeiras, Portugal at the 2021 World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals taking place September 24 to 26, 2021.

Brienne Miller (North Star Rowing Club), Aubrey Oldham (Leander Boat Club) and Sarah Pidgen (Don Rowing Club) were selected to represent Canada at the second edition of this international event through the RCA Beach Sprint Trials, which took place this August.

Oldham and Pidgen were also on the team that represented Canada at the inaugural World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals in 2019.

This coastal rowing competition involves a barefoot sprint on a beach to the competitors’ boats, 250m of slalom racing around buoys, and a final beach sprint from the water’s edge to the finish line.

Time trials will take place on Friday September 24, with finals for the CMix2x on Saturday September 25 and finals for the CM1x and CW1x on Sunday September 26.

Livestreaming will be available on www.worldrowing.com and World Rowing’s YouTube Channel. For more information on how to follow, including up-to-date schedule and results information, visit www.worldrowing.com.
