VICTORIA, BC – Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) is pleased to announce the athletes selected to represent Canada at the 2026 World Rowing Championships, taking place at the historic Bosbaan, in Amsterdam, Netherlands, from August 24-30, 2026. More than 850 athletes from 64 nations will compete across 23 boat classes as the world’s best crews race for championship titles.

This year’s World Championships represent an important step in Canada’s long-term performance strategy as the senior program continues to build toward success on the world stage. For Senior Men’s Head Coach Lauren Fisher, the team’s selection reflects the deliberate work being done to strengthen Canada’s high performance pathway for both the current Olympic cycle and for years to come.

“We are being deliberate in the progression of our senior men’s program. Since the Paris Olympic Games, our focus has been on strengthening the pathway by investing in our junior and under 23 athletes, while continuing to develop our young National Training Centre senior squad. This approach is about building the depth and robustness required not only for Los Angeles 2028, but also for the Brisbane Olympic cycle and beyond.”

Senior Women’s Head Coach Tom Morris says the women’s squad has also continued to make steady progress throughout the season.

“It’s been a year of consistent growth across the squad, and we’re looking forward to the opportunity to measure that progress against the best crews in the world. We’ve got a strong blend of experienced athletes and emerging talent, and this World Championships is another important step in our journey. Our focus is on delivering performances that reflect the quality of our preparation.”

That blend of experience and emerging talent will be on display in Amsterdam. Several members of the team return to the World Championship stage, bringing valuable international experience, while others will make their senior World Championship debut. Together, the group reflects the depth of talent within Canada’s high performance program and the collective belief that has been built throughout the season.

That confidence and commitment to continual improvement is something Kristen Siermachesky says has become a defining characteristic of the team.

“There’s nothing like lining up against the world. We’ve continued to grow together, push each other every day, and build real belief in what we’re capable of as individuals crews and the team collectively, as we work towards LA 2028.”

With the World Championships serving as the premier international regatta of the year, the event offers Canadian athletes the opportunity to gain valuable international racing experience while continuing to build momentum within the program. That progression has been a key focus following the World Cup season, according to men’s national team athlete, Ryan Clegg.

“The men’s program came back from the World Cup circuit with a greater understanding of race dynamics and what was required to be competitive. After a training block of implementing that knowledge into more specific pieces and situations, we are confident that we can progress in Amsterdam at World Championships.”

With final preparations underway, the Canadian team will travel to Europe for a pre-competition training camp ahead of the World Championships. Canada will field crews in the men’s single (M1x), men’s coxless four (M4-), women’s double (W2x), women’s quad (W4x), and women’s eight (W8+).
