Misener and McReynolds to Deliver Plenary Sessions at RCA National Conference

Dr. Katie Misener (University of Waterloo) and Stuart McReynolds (Canadian Tire Jumpstart) are set to deliver two important plenary sessions to the Canadian rowing community at the 2024 RCA National Conference.

Misener and McReynolds are just two in an interesting sleight of speakers who will present at the Conference, which takes place January 26-28 in Quebec City, QC. The three-day Conference features three streams – Rowing for All, Thriving Organizations, and Coach – from which attendees will select their sessions.

Misener’s keynote, titled ‘Evidence and Insights from a National Survey of Rowing Club Capacity and Growth’, will provide an overview of the findings and outline actionable insights from a Canada-wide project designed to profile the landscape of club rowing in Canada and its capacity for growth.

An Associate Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies, Faculty of Health at the University of Waterloo, Misener’s primary research focuses on the capacity and social impact of non-profit community sport organizations. Her research has a particular focus on how capacity can be enhanced to support sport service delivery and foster social engagement through sport.

The final keynote speech of the 2024 RCA National Conference is an important session for all in attendance that will highlight the findings of Canadian Tire Jumpstart’s recent State of Sport report.

McReynolds’ session, ‘State of Sport’ presented by Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities, will outline promising practices designed to ensure all kids have equitable opportunities to participate in sport now, and in the future.

McReynolds is the Associate Vice-President, Programs & Advocacy with Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities, where he leads the team responsible for the planning, design and execution of programs and partnerships that enable children and youth across Canada to realize the transformational benefits of sport and play.
