This webinar will identify the barriers that exist to becoming Para ready and will walk through the “9 P’s” of becoming Para ready: Proactive, Policy, Promotion, Programming, People, Participation, Place, Pathway, Price and Partnership. Participants will also learn how to be part of the Para Ready Challenge.

Speakers:
Tim Konoval
Dr. Tim Konoval earned a PhD in Coach Development from the University of Alberta. He is currently a Lecturer in Sport Coaching at Deakin University (Melbourne, Australia). Tim has also worked on numerous disability sport coaching projects with local, provincial and national sport and parasport organizations. He developed a resource to help coaches ‘become para ready’. Recently, he led a project with Coaching Association of Canada and the Canadian Paralympic Committee that examined disability inclusion in Canada’s National Coaching Certification Program. He is currently working with Paralympics Australia to help develop better coach development for disability sport across the coaching pathway.

Jessica Ferguson
Jessica Ferguson is an Athlete Development Coordinator at The Steadward Centre, University of Alberta. She mentors parasport coaches and students in the areas of strength and conditioning, para athletics, and para swimming, and works directly with athletes experiencing disability as the lead strength and conditioning coach.
