Upcoming 50th Anniversary Event of the 1976 Olympics: Montréal Aviron 1976-2026

Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) and the Association Québécoise d’Aviron (AQA) are pleased to announce the international commemorative event MONTRÉAL AVIRON 1976-2026 to mark the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games. The iconic Olympic Games have a special significance, as they marked the first participation of women in Olympic rowing events.
MONTRÉAL AVIRON 1976-2026 Ceremonial activities, both on and off the water, will make for unforgettable festivities. Rowing Olympians from all nations and of all Games editions will be honoured during this gathering that bridges the past, present, and future.
Paule Bernier, President of AQA and President, MONTRÉAL AVIRON 1976-2026, said, “MONTRÉAL AVIRON 1976-2026 will be a vibrant celebration of the spirit of rowing. We will bring together generations and nations to create an unforgettable moment to showcase our sport.”
The celebrations will take place at the Olympic Basin in Parc Jean-Drapeau—an iconic venue for our sport, as it hosted the rowing events 50 years ago. Save the dates: July 30 to August 1, 2026! Stay tuned for the official event launch and further details on the registration process.
