Ready to start the new year with a new challenge? The Great Indoors: Challenger Series returns this month but this time it’s time to #SayOuiToParis.

The 2024 Challenger Series: Say Oui To Paris is adorned with a Parisian twist to honour the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics and embodies our high performance motto of #SayOuiToParis. Get ready to embark on a virtual journey through the heart of the City of Lights as we introduce an array of thrilling challenges that capture the essence of Parisian beauty and endurance. Whether this is your first time on an indoor rowing machine or your thousandth, this series is for you!

The Challenger Series consists of six challenges, three timed and three distance challenges, that can be completed at any time between January 8 and February 18 and in any order.

• Row the Eiffel Tower Sprint
  • 300m Distance: A short and intense burst, mirroring the height of the iconic Eiffel Tower.
  • Challenge: Summon your power and agility to conquer this exhilarating sprint.
• Champs-Élysées 2000m Challenge
  • 2000m Distance: A challenging 2000 metres along the renowned Champs-Élysées.
  • Challenge: Navigate the course with precision, mirroring the excitement of this famous avenue.
• City of Love 10km Marathon Row
  • 10,000m Distance: A breathtaking 10km marathon row across the enchanting city of love.
  • Challenge: Endurance meets romance as you navigate through the charming streets and waterways.
• One Minute in Paris Timed Challenge
  • 1-minute Time: A swift one-minute challenge that captures the essence of a quick Parisian escapade.
  • Challenge: Row with intensity, as if you only have a minute to experience the magic of Paris.
• La Vie En Rose Timed Challenge
  • 3-minute Time: A challenge inspired by the length of the beloved “La Vie En Rose” song.
  • Challenge: Row to the rhythm of this classic melody, embracing the romance and elegance it exudes.
• Enjoy Paris 15-Minute Timed Challenge
  • 15-minute Time: A 15-minute timed challenge in honour of the 15 verses of the La Marseillaise, the French national anthem, gives you time to explore the beauty of Paris at your own pace.
  • Challenge: Find the perfect balance between speed and endurance as you immerse yourself in the City of Lights.

Each challenge will have its own leaderboard!

If you complete all six challenges within the entry period of January 8 to February 18, you will receive a limited edition The Great Indoors: Challenger Series medal! Competitors within the top 20 of their self-identified gender category at the end of the Challenger Series will be entered into a draw to win Rowing Canada Aviron swag.

Don’t make the top 20? Not to worry! All participants who complete the challenges will also be entered into a random draw for RCA merch. Looking for even more draw entries? Take a picture or video of yourself completing one of the challenges, post it to social media and tag RCA (@rowingcanada) for an extra entry!

Our Challenger Series is designed to complement our two training programs that anyone can complete, whether you are preparing for the 2024 World Rowing Indoor Championships taking place in Prague, Czechia in February, or just getting started on an indoor rowing machine.

Upon registration, each participant will receive two indoor rowing training programs, New to Rowing: 4 Weeks to 2km and Intermediate: Improve Your 2km Time.
