RCA is honoured to have been named the 2020 recipient of the Sheila Robertson Award at the Coaching Association of Canada’s November Petro-Canada Sport Leadership Awards Gala.
The Sheila Robertson Award is awarded to National Sport Organizations and Multisport Service Organizations for contributions made towards coach education, recognition and professional development.
This award recognizes RCA’s dedication to Safe Sport initiatives, including Every Coach Certified, a framework launched by RCA in 2018 to ensure that all rowing coaches in Canada achieve NCCP certification by the end of 2020.
“I would like to acknowledge the team effort involved in making the Every Coach Certified initiative happen,” said Colleen Miller, RCA Manager of Coach Education and Development. “This team includes many partners from our rowing community across Canada, including our NCCP Coach Developers, our provincial rowing associations, our rowing clubs, and coaches. This collaboration, along with the invaluable support of the CAC, has been instrumental in advancing best practice in coaching across Canada and ensuring all coaches receive consistent training in athlete development, safe sport, and ethics training.”
In addition, National Para Team coach John Wetzstein was named a 2020 Petro-Canada Coaching Excellence Award recipient.
