National Rowing Championships Set to Take Place at the Welland Recreational Waterway

The Welland Recreational Waterway will play host to the National Rowing Championships (NRCs) this weekend, as rowers from across the country contend for National Champion titles in singles and pairs events.

This weekend’s racing features a remarkable lineup of athletes, including Olympic and international medalists. National Team member Ryan Clegg will race in the men’s single, alongside Giancarlo DiPompeo, a FISU silver medalist in the lightweight men’s single. In the women’s single, Shannon Kennedy and Katie Clark, who won the 2024 Henley Royal Regatta (HRR) in the women’s quad, will also compete. National Team member Steven Rosts partners with FISU silver medalist Axel Ewashko in the men’s pair. In the women’s pair, 2024 HRR champion Piper Battersby will team up with Cassidy Deane, a National Team member and alternate for the 2024 Paris Olympics Women’s Eight. Additionally, AbbyGayle Durliat, a PR3 women’s single rower and Petro-Canada FACE Grant recipient, will also take to the water.

The following awards will be presented:
