Thursday, April 30, 2026 – (Victoria, BC)

Today, the Board of Rowing Canada Aviron announced that Jeff Powell has departed from his role as Chief Executive Officer. The Board is grateful for Jeff’s partnership and commitment to the organization.

During his tenure, Jeff played an important role in strengthening Rowing Canada Aviron’s financial foundation, growing engagement across our broader membership and community, and made a significant contribution to advancing the National Training Centre (NTC) project at Quamichan Lake. The construction of the boathouse is now underway and is planned to be completed by Fall 2026.

I am proud of what we accomplished in a short time at RCA and grateful to have worked alongside such a dedicated team at all levels,” said Jeff Powell. “I wish the organization continued success as it moves forward.”

On behalf of the Board, I want to express our appreciation to Jeff for the foundation he helped build,” said Tracey Black, President of Rowing Canada Aviron. “We wish him every success in his next chapter.”

We are pleased to share that Jennifer Fitzpatrick, current Director of Partnerships and Sport Development, has agreed to serve as Interim CEO. Jennifer has the Board’s full confidence and will work closely with the RCA leadership team to ensure continuity and ongoing support for our staff, athletes, coaches, and the broader community. With the full support of the Board, Mike Bryden, Director at Large and Chair of the NTC Project Committee, with Jane Stamp and Sander Grieve, also Directors at Large and members of the NTC Project Committee, will ensure momentum is maintained on the boathouse initiative.

Rowing Canada Aviron remains focused on our strong foundation as we continue to support our staff, athletes, coaches, and community from grassroots to podium. We look forward to the road ahead with confidence and gratitude for all who have contributed to getting us here.
