Cascadia Regatta Association named 2020 RCA Masters Championships host

RCA is pleased to announce the resurgence of an exclusive National Masters Rowing Championships to be held at Burnaby Lake, BC in July 2020.

The 2020 Cascadia Rowing Canada Aviron Masters Championships, delivered jointly by RCA and the Cascadia Regatta Association, will pilot a number of tailored features that will test the needs of our Masters rowers and help shape the future of Masters events in Canada.

The Cascadia Regatta Association has delivered the annual Cascadia Regatta Masters Championships since 2009, welcoming participants from all over Canada and the Pacific Northwest.  Many of the experienced organizing committee members from the 2014 RCA Canadian Masters Championships are returning to help deliver this exciting 2020 event. The last Canadian Masters Championships were held in 2016 at Wascana Lake, Regina SK.

“We’ve heard loud and clear from our rowing community that our Masters rowers are eager to compete for the title of National Champion,” said RCA Director of Partnerships and Sport Development, Jennifer Fitzpatrick. “Partnering with an organizing committee with a track record of delivering exceptional events is critical to our success of Masters rowing moving forward.  This year’s event will provide us the opportunity to gather insight on how to deliver thriving Masters rowing events in the future. We look forward to welcoming our Masters community this summer in Burnaby.”

“The Cascadia Regatta Association is looking forward to this exciting opportunity to work with Rowing Canada Aviron to reinvigorate the Canadian Masters Championships,” said Cascadia VP and Regatta Chair, Bill Myra. “We are enthusiastic to be inviting athletes from around the country and North America to enjoy the best of Masters rowing.”

This three-day event will be hosted from Friday July 17th-Sunday, July 19th, 2020. Details on the event will be available soon on RegattaCentral.
