Canadian crews advance to semi-finals in Poznan

Team Canada took to the water with intent on the first day of World Rowing Cup action in Poznan, Poland today. Fourteen Canadian crews raced in heats and repechages with multiple teams advancing to A/B semi-finals on Saturday.
Conlin McCabe (Brockville, ON) and Kai Langerfeld (Vancouver, BC) won their heat today in the Men’s Pair event with a time of 6:26.80. Men’s Lightweight Double team, Maxwell Lattimer (Delta, BC) and Patrick Keane (Victoria, BC), also delivered a convincing heat win, posting the second fastest time of four heats in 6:29.36.
Jill Moffatt (Bethany, ON) placed 2nd in the Lightweight Women’s Single heat to advance directly to A/B semi-finals while Carling Zeeman also finished 2nd in Women’s Single to qualify for A/B semi-finals on Saturday.
Jeremy Hall (St. Paul, AB) finished 2nd in the PR2 Men’s Single event, behind World Champion Corne De Koning from the Netherlands. Jeremy will race in RCA’s first A Final of the competition tomorrow at 10:15amET/7:15amPT.
Hillary Janssens (Cloverdale, BC) and Sydney Payne (Toronto, ON) took the win in the Women’s Pair repechage to advance to A/B semi-finals tomorrow.
Andrea Proske (Langley, BC) and Gabrielle Smith (Unionville, ON) stole another win for Team Canada in the Women’s Double repechage to secure their spot in the A/B semi-finals.
The Canadian Men’s and Women’s Eights head to repechage tomorrow.
Racing for all crews continues tomorrow with Finals streaming live at CBC Sports and World Rowing on Sunday.
