Canada Announces CanAmMex Team and Additional Crews for Mega Worlds

Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) announces the selection of the Canadian team for the CanAmMex Regatta as well as several new crews to the roster for the 2024 World Rowing Senior, Under 23, and Under 19 Championships (Mega Worlds) in St. Catharines, ON.

CanAmMex Regatta

The 2024 CanAmMex Regatta is set to take place from August 6-11 in Mexico City, Mexico. This event features entries from the National Sport Organizations for Canada, Mexico, the United States, and the Bahamas. This year, the CanAmMex Regatta will be hosted at the Olympic Basin, featuring a four-day camp followed by a two-day regatta. A total of 26 athletes, comprised of 12 men, 12 women, 2 coxswains, and 4 coaches, will represent Canada. The team of selected athletes will form a sculling group fielding a quad, double, and two singles, and a sweep group fielding an eight, four, and two pairs.

“Canada’s CanAmMex team is a strong group of young athletes, seizing their first opportunity to proudly represent Canada on the international stage,” shares NextGen Program Lead, Chuck McDiarmid. “For those with another year of junior racing ahead, this experience will be invaluable in preparing them for the 2025 Junior National Team. For those in their final junior year, it’s a chance to hone their skills for university competition and set their sights on U23 programming.”
