Advancing to Asuncion: 2025 Junior Pan Am Games Asuncion Team Selected
- Rowing Canada Aviron
- Jul 31, 2025
Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) has announced the Junior Team heading to the Junior Pan American Games Asuncion, August 9-23.
For the second edition of the Junior Pan Am Games, U23 rowers will be able to continue developing towards the U23 team and future Senior teams. The event acts as an excellent opportunity for these rowers to gain international exposure and gain race experience.
Maylie Valiquette and Annika Goodwyn will be joining the Women’s crew, fresh off their bronze medal win at the U23 World Rowing Championships.
The Women’s Sweep group has been training out of Quamichan Lake alongside the U23 Worlds team. They have been joined by the Junior Women’s 2- and supported by Olympian, Dave Calder, who is taking the Junior team to the World Championships.
To further strengthen the pipeline of talent for the National Team, RCA has launched new sculling programs this year in Welland, Ontario, and Montreal, Quebec. These initiatives are designed to provide U23 athletes with increased racing opportunities, accelerating their development and ensuring a strong future for Canadian rowing at the highest levels.
The men are currently hosted in Ontario, and the women are in Quebec. These partnerships are important to develop athletes and help them build towards diverse racing opportunities.
With the multi-year plan to continue advancing their talents and strengthening their sculling, RCA looks forward to seeing the athletes on the Junior Pan Am team and competing at the U23 Worlds in the near future.
For the Junior Pan American Games team, prior to being named to Team Canada, all nominations are subject to approval by the Canadian Olympic Committee following its receipt of nominations by all National Sport Organizations.
