Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) is a recipient of Community Sport for All Initiative (CSAI) funding from the Federal Government. We look forward to celebrating this news more broadly very soon and will keep you posted on the timing.
This funding is dedicated to programming designed to remove barriers and increase active sport participation for underrepresented populations. Our proposal has been approved for funding to increase participation in rowing for the following equity-deserving populations: Black, Indigenous, Racialized, 2SLGBTQQIA+, Low-income, Persons with a disability, Newcomers, and Girls and Women.
The funding can support programming at the local level (e.g. club/special associations) from August 4, 2023-August 31, 2024.
Information on how to apply for this funding will be available in ~ 2 weeks with an application deadline of Tuesday, January 30, 2024. When developing the rowing program, member organizations are expected to do so alongside a partner group or organization that is representative of (or has a mandate to support) equity-deserving populations listed above. Member organizations must provide a letter of support/engagement from the partner group or organization when applying for funding. We encourage member organizations to initiate conversations with existing and potential partners soon.
There is also funding available to support training of CSAI program leaders (coaches and program administrators) to attend the RCA National Conference, January 26-27, 2024 (link) in the Rowing For All Stream. This request for funding is due Wednesday, December 13, 2023. Individuals who have been recently or are expecting to deliver CSAI programming this season are encouraged to apply for this funding.
