2019 National Conference


The 2019 Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) National Conference will be hosted in Calgary, Alberta at the Hotel Arts from January 24-27th, 2019.  The RCA National Conference welcomes leaders from around the world in the field of sport, sport science, and management. This year’s conference offers a variety of technical sessions and others designed to develop leadership soft skills.

The intent of the conference is to ‘Invest in our Best’ by ensuring the leaders of rowing in Canada are equipped with the tools they need on and off the water to enable our sport to thrive! We will benefit from technical experts who will provide us with the tools for developing successful rowers from grassroots to high performance.

This year’s conference is highlighted by keynote speakers:

           Dame Katherine Grainger – Chair of UK Sport
           Dr. Cari Din – PhD, Leadership Behavior. Professor, Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Calgary

RCA is pleased to offer additional social events prior to the conference through Winsport on Wednesday, January 23rd from 12:30-4:30 PM. Activities include bobsleigh, Canada Sports Hall of Fame, Ice Luge, Human Curling, Spirit of the Games, Slingshot Bowling, and Race to the Podium. Please check our session descriptions for more information.  

RCA is also thrilled to host The Canadian Rowing Hall of Fame induction night on January 25th, and the 38th Annual RCA Excellence Awards on January 26th.

 

The 2019 Semi-Annual Meeting will be held on Sunday January 27th.
