RCA is seeking expressions of interest from qualified coaches for the following programs for the 2017 season:

RCA Senior ProgramAssistant Coach
Program Dates: Approximately May 15th  – October 1st, 2017

Location: London, Ontario or Victoria, BC
Coaches will travel with the Senior National Team to either the World Rowing Championships in Sarasota-Bradenton, USA, September 24th to October 1st, 2017 and/or to an alternative competitive event in July, 2017 (location and event to be determined). Please note as an integrated program all Senior Program references within this document include our Para-Rowing program.

Under-23 Program – Program Coach
Program Dates: Approximately May 15st – October 1st, 2017

Location: Location of each Under-23 program will be determined by the High Performance Director in either London, Ontario or Victoria, BC
Coaches will travel with the U23 National Team to either the World Rowing Under-23 Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, from July 3rd to 24, 2017 and/or to an alternative competitive event in July/August 2017 (location and event to be determined)

Junior Program:

World Rowing Junior Championships
Program Dates: Approximately July 2nd – August 7th, 2017

Location: London, Ontario
Coaches will travel with the U19 National Team to the World Rowing Junior Championships in Trakai, Lithuania, from July 24th to August 7th, 2017

CanAmMex Regatta
Program Dates: Approximately July 1st – 9th, 2017

Location: Mill Bay, BC
CanAmMex Program Coaches will be required for pre-event training camp, directly prior to the CanAmMex Regatta.

Qualification Requirements: RCA appointed Senior Coaches should have NCCP Level 4 certification or are a minimum RCA Performance Coach certified (NCCP Level 3 - theory, technical, practical). RCA appointed Junior or U23 Coaches must be at a minimum RCA Coach-certified.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare athletes/crews in a daily training environment for competition at designated events.
  • Fulfil coaching duties as directed by the respective RCA Performance Director

Additional Requirements:

  • Report directly to the designated RCA (U19/U23/Senior) Program Lead 

  • Submit a current criminal record check to RCA prior to assuming coaching duties 

  • Provide a post event written report that outlines the experience, benefits and issues arising from program involvement 

  • Proven leadership skills 

  • Recognizes and values the expertise of others to help form plans or make decisions 

  • Strong effective communicator with the ability to build relationships across a broad range of individuals 

  • Experienced working in a high performance environment 


Compensation:
All Senior coaching positions will be contract positions. Honorariums may be provided for all other postions to cover travel and/or relocation costs. This will be reviewed on an individual basis. Successful candidates will have costs covered while travelling with the team to the respective event, including pre-camp costs. Applicants should include a coaching resume and a summary of coaching attributes that you feel contribute to the success of the team. Applicants should indicate the preference for program(s) you wish to work with, preferred coaching location and honorarium expectations.

Appointments:
Announcements will be made following the 2017 Senior, Para & U23 Speed Order – National Selection Trials and the 2017 Junior Selection Trials. If additional coaches are required, they will be confirmed in June, 2017. These positions are subject to available funding. Financial support for these positions is provided by Sport Canada, Own the Podium and the Canadian Olympic Committee.
