Club Development Information and Resources
The RCA CAN ROW Coaches Handbook was distributed to each Provincial Rowing Association for all Learn to Row and RCA Coach Workshops. This handbook has been designed, with input from experts in the Canadian rowing community, will provide each coach with additional knowledge to teach the essential skills to new rowers. This handbook supports RCA’s Athlete Development Pathway and focuses on the needs of new rowers in the Learn to Train, Train to Train and Competitive for Life stages.

Ensuring your club has a good governance structure, with robust policies and procedures in place can allow you to prepare for any risks and manage them, as well as ensure the stability and sustainability of your club. It is impossible to avoid all risks but they can be managed with proper procedures in place.
The following are good examples of policies that other clubs or associations have in place. Use the following as a guide only, as the best policy for your club will be unique to your club’s values and membership. When crafting your club’s policies and procedures, you should take into consideration the relevant labour laws, funding requirements and most importantly, ensure a positive experience for all at your club.
