Mike Walker

Mike Walker began his rowing career in the late 70’s at the Regina Rowing Club, and over the years has been a member of the Saskatoon Rowing Club, Fraser Valley Rowing Club, Kingston Rowing Club, Ottawa New Edinburgh Club, Ottawa Rowing Club, and the Argonaut Rowing Club. He has coached at the Royal Military College and at the University of Ottawa, and has served on volunteer boards and committees at the club and provincial levels in rowing as well as other volunteer organizations. Mike remains active as a rower and an Umpire.

Mike’s professional career began as a Military Engineer Officer with the Canadian Army. This has been followed by executive appointments within the federal government in a variety of areas such as search and rescue, security and intelligence, Director of Canada’s reconstruction and development team in Kandahar, finance and logistics, and policy and program development. In 2012, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his professional accomplishments and community service. Mike is a strong, capable and energetic leader with exceptional communication skills and a reputation for being engaged and strategic.
